May 27 Border Queues in Ukraine: Where Delays Are Worst.
Current State of Ukraine's Border Crossings
According to Novyny.live: As of May 27, 2023, four checkpoints along Ukraine's border are experiencing queues. Border guards are warning travelers about possible delays and electronic system malfunctions that could slow down crossing times.
By 9:00 AM, lines were recorded at crossings with Poland and Slovakia. At the 'Yahodyn' checkpoint, no buses were present, and pedestrian crossings are not being allowed. The 'Ustyluh' checkpoint has a queue of 25 cars and one bus. Other crossings—'Uhryniv,' 'Rava-Ruska,' 'Hrushiv,' and 'Tysa'—report zero cars or buses, with pedestrian traffic suspended only at 'Tysa.'
At 'Krakovets,' there is a line of 10 cars, while 'Shehyni' has 30 cars, with pedestrian crossings open in both directions. 'Malyi Bereznyi' has no vehicles but allows pedestrians. 'Uzhhorod' reports 20 cars and one bus, with pedestrian crossings available. Finally, 'Diakove' has 20 cars but no pedestrian passage.
Border Guard Recommendations
The situation at the border is fluid, and authorities advise travelers to prepare for potential hold-ups.
As late May approaches, the queues at Ukraine's borders with Poland and Slovakia reflect a surge in traveler traffic, possibly due to legislative changes or seasonal journeys. It's worth noting that delays don't just affect individuals—they can also disrupt freight transport, leading to broader economic impacts.
Border guards suggest planning trips ahead of time and factoring in possible delays when crossing.
