New Ukrainian Missiles

Kyiv is actively engaged in the development and procurement of new long-range weapons capable of hitting targets even in Siberia. As a replacement for American ATACMS missiles with a range of up to 300 km, Ukraine will soon present new domestically produced missiles. Among them are the air defense missile 'Long Neptune' with a range of up to 1000 km and the cruise missile 'Flamingo', which can reach 3000 km. The latest Ukrainian weapons are reported by FREEДОМ.

Ukraine's Position

President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Ukraine is actively using its own upgraded weapons and does not plan to coordinate targets for strikes with the USA.

'Today we are using our domestically produced long-range weapons. And we are not discussing such matters with the USA,' he stated.

New 'Neptune'

On the day of the 34th anniversary of Ukraine's Independence, a new version of the air defense missile R-360 'Neptune' was presented on the official 'Weapon' portal. This Ukrainian development, unofficially named 'Long Neptune', passed preparatory tests in March this year and has a flight range that exceeds the American ATACMS by more than three times, reaching 1000 km.

Experts note that the length of the updated 'Neptune' exceeds 6 meters without the booster, which is 1.5 meters longer than the R-360.

'Long Neptune' has already been used by us. I cannot specify the location, but it was in Kuban. At that time, it 'hit' one of the facilities related to Russian missiles,' reported spokesperson of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army Serhiy Bratchuk.

Missile 'Flamingo'

In August of this year, Ukraine presented another development — the cruise missile FP-5 'Flamingo'. Its fairing has a bright pink color. These missile systems are already in serial production and are effectively used for strikes on targets in Russia.

Experts emphasize that the strike zone of 'Flamingo' covers not only the central regions of the Russian Federation but also Murmansk, Omsk, and other major cities. The flight range of this missile is 3000 km, and its speed is 950 km/h, with a wingspan of 6 meters.

The warhead of 'Flamingo' weighs 1150 kg, which is 2.5 times more than the warhead of the American Tomahawk Block V, which weighs 450 kg. The flight range of 'Flamingo' is almost twice that of the Tomahawk, and in terms of its characteristics, this Ukrainian missile is the best subsonic cruise missile in the world.

'As we can see, our country's strategic choice — a strategy for missile building — is yielding results,' Bratchuk noted.

Strengthening Defense Capability

Strengthening Ukraine's defense capability and expanding its own military-industrial complex (MIC) are important tasks for Kyiv and its partners, the president of Ukraine believes.

'NATO countries are now joining a new program called 'PURL', which allows for increased assistance to Ukraine through the procurement of weapons from the USA,' Zelensky commented.

Ukraine has also reached an agreement with Great Britain to cooperate in the production of drones, as reported by Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.

After the full-scale invasion of Russia, Ukraine significantly increased the production of weapons and the implementation of new technologies, which are already actively used at the front. According to the Ministry of Defense, production volumes have increased 35 times, and state plans foresee further increasing this figure, particularly in the drone segment.

The ambitious goal for 2025 is to produce up to 4.5 million drones.

It was previously reported that Ukraine plans to produce 200 long-range 'Flamingo' missiles per month.
