According to UATV: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has named Mykhailo Drapatyi as the new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The decision was made on July 21, 2023, with official procedures set to be finalized on July 22, 2023. During a meeting with senior military officials, Zelenskyy outlined defense strategies and immediate steps to be taken in the near term.

Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Oleksandr Syrskyi, acknowledging his role in securing Ukraine’s successes, including the defense of Kyiv, the Kharkiv offensive, and the Kursk operation.

“I am grateful to Oleksandr Syrskyi and every one of our soldiers for Ukraine’s strong frontline positions” - Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Key Priorities and Objectives

Zelenskyy also noted that he and Drapatyi have identified critical tasks to be achieved in both the short and medium term. “Together with Mykhailo Drapatyi, we have determined which objectives must be accomplished in the immediate future and over the medium term,” he stated.
