Romania Appoints a New Prime Minister
According to Espreso.tv: Following the resignation of Ilie Bolojan triggered by a no-confidence vote in parliament, Eugen Tomac has been named Romania's new prime minister and is now responsible for assembling a fresh cabinet. Bolojan stepped down on May 5 after his government faced intense public backlash over harsh economic measures, leading to widespread societal discontent. Although he remained the most popular figure within the ruling coalition, persistent clashes between his administration and the Social Democrats eroded parliamentary support within just ten months of taking power.

Upon his appointment, Eugen Tomac declared:
“I will present a technical government, not a political one”— signaling his intention to prioritize pragmatic solutions over partisan politics, a direct response to the difficulties that plagued his predecessor.
