Currency exchange in Ukraine — where it is dangerous to carry money.
Ukrainians always want to be able to buy dollars under the best conditions, but some take the risk and exchange money on the black market, where they can be deceived.
The editorial team of Novyny.LIVE explains why it is better to avoid exchanging currency on the black market.
Why it is better to avoid exchange on the black market
If you are buying money from 'money changers', be cautious, as there is a risk of becoming a victim of fraud. Instead of real money, you may be given counterfeit bills.
Since transactions are carried out on the street, it is difficult to verify the money, and the buyer can become a victim of scammers who take advantage of his trust.
Three common types of fraud on the black market
- When selling large amounts, scammers may ambush the buyer in a car, hand over the money, and then rob them after they exit;
- Others set up fake exchange points with two exits - one for clients, the other for a quick escape when dealing with large sums;
- Fraudsters can also mix fake bills among real ones, deceiving the buyer even without their knowledge.
So, if you want to avoid the risk of losing money, it is better to refrain from exchanging currency on the black market.
Earlier we wrote about the possibility of exchanging old dollars and the rules for recognizing currency. It is also important to know which currency may be confiscated at exchange offices.
