Preventive Measure Chosen for Head of Village Council in Odesa Region - What It Is.

The head of the Dobroslav territorial community, Lyudmyla Prokopenko, was released on personal recognizance due to suspicions of official negligence and misappropriation of budget funds. This was reported by the former head of the Odesa Regional Council, Mykhailo Shmushkovych.

The prosecution requested to send Lyudmyla Prokopenko to pre-trial detention, allowing bail of 1.2 million UAH and seizing her foreign passport. However, the Kyiv District Court released her on personal recognizance by a people's deputy from the 'Servant of the People' party, Stepan Cherniavskyi.

Case Against the Official

The suspicion is that in 2023 Lyudmyla Prokopenko approved the transfer of about 1 million UAH for fictitious environmental analysis services. The accused claims these are absurd accusations and argues that the decision was made collectively during the village council session, and that there were no procedural violations. Under Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (official negligence), she faces up to five years in prison.

It should be noted that recently, information was made public about a registrar suspected of real estate fraud. It was also mentioned about officials in Odesa region profiting from taxes.
