Attacks on Donetsk Region: July 3, 2023
According to UATV: On July 3, 2023, Russian forces continued targeting civilian infrastructure and residents across Ukraine's Donetsk region, particularly in the cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk. These assaults resulted in multiple deaths and caused extensive property damage. In Kramatorsk, a Russian drone struck an emergency response team’s vehicle, killing a woman born in 1946 and injuring a man born in 1971.
Sloviansk came under fire around 3:30 AM, damaging at least ten private homes and three apartment buildings. Two people died in that attack, including a man born in 1954. According to the head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Russian troops shelled settlements in the region 30 times on July 3, hitting the communities of Dobropillia, Sviatohirsk, Mykolaivka, Novodonetske, and Druzhkivka.
Wider Assault on Ukraine
During the night of July 3, the Russian military also launched two Kh-59/69 guided missiles and 105 drones against Ukraine. These ongoing strikes continue to harm civilians and damage infrastructure, sparking deep concern among local residents and the international community. The sustained bombardment of Donetsk underscores an escalation of violence in the area, worsening the humanitarian crisis and heightening risks for non-combatants. As global efforts push for a peaceful resolution to the conflict, such attacks threaten any progress toward regional stability and underscore the urgent need for continued international attention and support to protect civilians and restore peace.
