Water Service Partially Restored in Odesa, But Outages Persist in Some Areas.
Water Supply Disruptions Continue in Odesa
According to Novyny.live: For a fourth consecutive day, residents of Odesa are facing water supply disruptions caused by recent attacks from the Russian Federation. As of February 16, municipal utility workers have partially stabilized the system, but the situation remains difficult in some districts, compounded by power outages. These infrastructure attacks are a common tactic in the ongoing war, severely impacting civilian life.
Varying Conditions Across City Districts
The most significant water supply problems are being observed in the Prymorskyi district and parts of the Khadzhybeiskyi district. Meanwhile, service is returning to normal in the Kyivskyi district and most of the Khadzhybeiskyi district. However, in the Peresyp district, residents are concerned about possible reductions in water pressure.
Energy sector workers are actively engaged in repairing equipment and redistributing the electrical load to improve the city's water supply situation. Nevertheless, the problems remain acute for many Odesa residents who continue to struggle with securing a basic water supply.
The water crisis in Odesa is part of the wider impact of the war in Ukraine, which has systematically targeted critical urban infrastructure. Restoring reliable water service depends not only on the efforts of local utility crews but also on the stability of the power grid, which remains under threat from military strikes. This underscores the need for an integrated approach to solving energy and water supply challenges under wartime conditions.
