The Italian government officially confirmed that the country will not participate in the military mission in Ukraine to support a potential peace agreement with Russia.
This position was announced after a virtual meeting of the 'coalition of the willing,' attended by leaders of various countries, including Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The Italian government's statement mentions that peace is necessary to ensure the future sovereignty and security of Ukraine.
'Prime Minister Meloni confirmed that Italy will cooperate with European and Western partners, as well as with the United States, on establishing reliable and effective security guarantees. However, she emphasized that Italy's military intervention is not planned,' the official statement reads.
Italy will continue to cooperate with international partners to ensure the security of Ukraine but will not send its military forces.
