One of the substations near the temporarily occupied by Russian forces Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, likely, was subjected to a drone attack. IAEA experts stated that they heard explosions, according to the statement.

According to the IAEA press service, the nuclear safety situation was unstable throughout the past week. One team sought shelter due to the presence of drones in the area, another team heard anti-aircraft fire and a powerful explosion during an air raid alert, and a third team visited the site of the possible drone attack.

Also, at the ZNPP, the IAEA team heard explosions throughout the week, including several explosions near the site. No damage to the station was reported.

Additionally, a possible drone strike was recorded on Friday afternoon at the 35/6 kV substation about 300 meters from the plant. This substation provides power to the ZNPP facilities that are not related to safety.

It should be noted that IAEA experts recorded drone overflights several kilometers away from the South Ukrainian NPP over three nights last week.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, the Russian Kremlin is preparing to strike critical nuclear energy facilities in Ukraine.

IAEA adopted a resolution during the general conference demanding that Russia immediately leave the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP and de-occupy it.
