You will need (for a 1L jar):
- cucumbers - as many as will fit in the jar;
- carrot - a few slices;
- onion - a few rings;
- bay leaf - 1 pcs;
- allspice berries - 5 pcs;
- black peppercorns - 6 pcs;
- clove - 1 pcs (optional).
Marinade for 1L of water:
- salt - 4 tsp;
- sugar - 8 tsp;
- 9% vinegar - 8 tbsp.
Preparation Method
Choose small or medium-sized cucumbers. Soak them in cold water for 4 hours so they remain crunchy after pickling. Then trim the ends on both sides. Wash the jars well, dry them, and boil the lids.
At the bottom of each jar, place a few slices of carrot and some onion rings. Add the bay leaf, allspice and black pepper, and optionally, the clove. Pack the cucumbers tightly.
Prepare the marinade: pour water into a pot, add salt, sugar, stir, and pour in the vinegar. Bring to a boil and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Pour the hot marinade into the jars to the top, cover with sterilized lids.
Place the jars in a large pot with a towel at the bottom, fill with warm water. Sterilize for 6 minutes after boiling. Then screw on the lids, turn the jars upside down, wrap in a towel, and leave to cool completely. These cucumbers are perfectly stored at room temperature and have a rich, aromatic taste.
