Escalating pressure in the temporarily occupied parts of Zaporizhzhia

According to UATV: Russian occupying forces have stepped up coercive mobilization efforts in the temporarily occupied territory of Zaporizhzhia region, detaining men during identity checks. In Berdiansk, Russian security agencies are apprehending men eligible for military service. Over the past week, roughly 17 men signed contracts with the Russian Ministry of Defense, driven by fear of criminal prosecution.

According to reports, detained men are taken to so-called command posts or precincts, where they face psychological pressure and are forced to sign contracts with the Russian Defense Ministry. Those who refuse are threatened with the opening of criminal cases. This information is confirmed by the National Resistance Center.

Local outrage grows over new housing demands

In addition, the occupation authorities have announced plans starting next year to require residents of Luhansk region to cover up to 85% of the cost of rebuilding their destroyed homes out of their own pockets. This decision has sparked outrage among locals already struggling under the hardships of war. The region remains tense, fueling widespread concern among the population.

The rise in forced conscription in occupied areas highlights the increasing pressure Russian military structures are placing on local communities. Signing contracts under threat of criminal charges reflects the dire circumstances people face and their fear for their own safety. Furthermore, the obligation to rebuild destroyed housing at personal expense underscores the occupation administration’s disregard for residents’ social needs, which is likely to deepen social unrest in the region.
