Zinchenko's prospects at Arsenal worsened when it became known that the club was interested in Piero Hincapie.

According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest offered Zinchenko a chance to escape his difficult situation at Arsenal.

The Midlands club has agreed on a loan deal with Arsenal for the 28-year-old player.

Nottingham Forest decided to take the opportunity after their move for Javi Galan from Atletico Madrid fell through.

The club is 'fairly confident' that the deal will be finalized in time.

Zinchenko's openness about difficulties

Zinchenko, who was also linked with Fulham, shared his feelings about the lack of playing time.

Last season, he played only 15 matches in the Premier League, of which only five were in the starting lineup.

During one match at Emirates, his wife Vlada brought their two young daughters to the game, and Zinchenko recalls: “Eva, the older one, says to Leia: 'Look, there's dad'.

“Leia looks all over the field but can't find me. And then Eva points and says: ‘No, he's not playing. He's on the bench’.

“The feeling of rejection when your coach no longer believes in you can throw you off course.”

“I am grateful that my girls are not yet old enough to be exposed to social media and read about their dad, who can no longer make it into Arsenal's squad.

“I essentially fell behind, mostly just in a few isolated matches.

“Personally, it has been the worst season of my professional career.

“A player who does not play is worth nothing. It's one thing when your body lets you down; that can happen.

“But going from being a regular player to being a substitute – that’s much harder to handle.”

Zinchenko concluded: “Time will tell what happens next, but I still want to play football. I want to enjoy the game and come home with a smile on my face.”
