Olympics-2024: Another Ukrainian advanced to the second round of the tennis tournament.
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk defeated New Zealander Lulu Sun in the first round of the 2024 Olympics.
It should be noted that before the Olympics, the world's 55th-ranked player Lulu Sun surprised everyone by reaching the quarterfinals of Wimbledon.
Marta Kostyuk met the New Zealand tennis player on the court for the first time. There was a fierce battle between them in the first set. After eight games, the score was 4:4. But Kostyuk managed to win that set 6:4.
In the second set, the Ukrainian tennis player confidently led 4:0 after four games. The New Zealander won three games in a row. But in the end, Kostyuk still won 6:3.
This was Marta Kostyuk's debut at the Olympic Games. In the round of 16, she will play against the winner of the match between Clara Burel and Katerina Siniakova.
Earlier, in the first round of the Olympic competitions, Ukrainian tennis player Elina Svitolina confidently defeated Japanese Moyuka Uchijima with a score of 6:2, 6:1.
