Potential transfer of Patrick Bamford to Getafe

According to The Sun: Patrick Bamford may get a new chance in his career thanks to a possible transfer to the Spanish club Getafe.

The 32-year-old footballer was left without a team after Leeds decided not to extend his contract this summer.

During his time at Leeds, Bamford scored 60 goals in 205 matches, but last season failed to find the net in 17 Championship matches.

He now has a chance to revive his career, as Spanish journalist Matteo Moretto reported that he is negotiating with Getafe.

The club is 'very close' to signing a contract with the striker, who made one appearance for the England national team in 2021 against Andorra.

Bamford will likely have to travel to Spain to finalize the deal on Tuesday.

Although the transfer window in Spain closed last month, contracts with free agents can still be signed throughout the season.

Bamford's experience, having scored 24 goals in the Premier League over seven seasons, could be beneficial for Getafe.

He was part of the Leeds team that returned to the Premier League last season but received a message from coach Daniel Farke that he would not be in his plans for the new season.

Bamford admitted that he feels 'painful' emotions after being released from the club, but emphasized that he is proud of his journey.

“The club became a huge part of my life, and I tried to make you proud by doing everything I could on and off the field,' he said this summer.
“Right now, considering how everything ended, it’s hard for me to evaluate it immediately, as it’s still too painful,” Bamford continued.
“But in the future, I will be able to look back at this period with joy and pride for being able to wear that number 9 on the pitch for so many years.”
“I want to thank all the coaches under whom I played, especially Marcelo Bielsa. I don’t know where the club would be without the foundations he laid.”

Farke explained his decision to release Bamford, noting that the player has had 'difficult' years due to injuries affecting his physical condition.

“Patrick and I had a very honest conversation. I would have preferred for Patrick Bamford to be completely healthy the last two seasons,” Farke said.

Farke added: “He has done an incredible amount for the club over the past seven years, winning two promotions. He trained with us for the first two weeks, but I told him that when we went to training camp, I would shorten the group of forwards, and that’s why I made this move now.”

Bamford began his career in the Nottingham Forest academy, then in 2012 was signed by Chelsea for approximately 1.5 million pounds. In 2017 he moved to Middlesbrough and a year later to Leeds.

Thus, Patrick Bamford has a chance to return to a high-level football stage. If negotiations with Getafe conclude successfully, this could become a new chapter in his career. At the same time, his period at Leeds will leave many memories and lessons that may help him in his future challenges. We will follow the developments.
