The heating season in Ukraine starts: tariffs will remain unchanged.
According to inkorr.com: The heating season has begun in Ukraine. According to the Cabinet of Ministers' decree No. 830, prices for heating, hot water supply, and gas for consumers will remain unchanged. This means that tariffs will not increase, and the amount of payments will be determined by the presence of a meter and weather conditions.
Heating will be connected when the air temperature consistently drops to +8 degrees and below. Local administrations will be able to independently set the start date of the season, considering the climatic conditions in their regions.
Municipal authorities may provide heating to kindergartens, schools, and hospitals even before heating begins in private homes.
Tariff issues and prospects
The government of Ukraine has informed the International Monetary Fund (IMF) that the review of tariffs for the population will be considered only after the end of the military conflict. For example, in Kyiv, the tariff for heating will remain at 1654.41 hryvnias per unit, as it has been since 2019. Experts have also pointed out the existence of corruption schemes in the field of public services.
Therefore, Ukrainians have been announced about the start of the heating season. The authorities assured that heating prices will not change, and local authorities will be able to activate heating as temperatures decrease. The issue of tariff review is discussed only after the end of the military conflict and in the context of combating corruption in the utilities sector.
