The Opposition of Georgia did not recognize the election results
The Georgian opposition refused to recognize the election results, and President Salome Zourabichvili called for protests. International observers also provided their assessment of the elections. It should be noted that the Georgian opposition does not plan to negotiate with the ruling party 'Georgian Dream'.
Protests by the Opposition and Greta Thunberg's Protest Action
On November 4, a protest action was held in Tbilisi in front of the parliament building, organized by opposition parties. There, opposition political forces announced their action plan after reports of election fraud.
The opposition planned to block traffic on the Baratashvili Bridge in the center of Tbilisi, and Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was also spotted at the rally. She joined the Georgian protesters and expressed her support for them.
After the parliamentary elections on October 26, a second opposition protest took place. The first rally occurred on October 28, after the preliminary results were announced by the CEC. The Georgian opposition also announced daily protests against the election results.
The appellate court canceled the judge's ruling confirming the violation of election secrecy. The Central Election Commission demanded that the decision on re-elections in the Tetri Tskaro districts be canceled.
