As the director of football at Barça, he played a vital role in appointing Guardiola as manager in 2008, although he left the Catalan club two years later.
Guardiola has repeatedly emphasized Txiki's contribution to shaping the club's squad.
Now City is keen to retain Guardiola, who signed his latest contract last November, but hints that he may stay beyond 2027 when his deal ends.
With Txiki, Guardiola, and CEO Ferran Soriano, City has dominated English football over the last decade.
