According to The Sun: The football club Newcastle has canceled more than 100 season tickets due to violations of ticket purchase rules.

This occurred as a result of a surprise investigation into unauthorized resale of tickets for matches at St. James’ Park.

Details of the Investigation

The club announced on Monday evening that 103 season tickets were canceled due to violations. The statement explains that this concerns tickets sold to a small group of tour operators during the 2015/16 season.

“Following the results of the investigation into unauthorized resale of tickets for matches at St. James' Park, we have canceled a total of 103 season tickets due to violations of the terms.”

The club clarified that “this does not concern individual fans who resell their tickets, but only that batch of season tickets that were sold to a small number of tour operators for school groups.”

Further Actions by the Club

“The club terminated agreements with third parties for ticket sales immediately after the change of club ownership in 2021, including some sales for guests and a small number of tickets for a former commercial partner,” the statement reads.

“Since there was no formal contract with the tour groups, the continued use and resale of their tickets at inflated prices went unnoticed until recently.”

“In light of this situation, the club is taking urgent measures.”

The club also reported that “it has not received any funds above the face value of these tickets and has immediately returned seats for sale to fans who participated in the official voting for the next matches.”

Stadium Development Plans

Last week, it became known that Newcastle's plans to expand their home stadium faced serious difficulties, as the club must first resolve other important issues.

A group of owners led by Saudi Arabia has been in talks about the possibility of building a new stadium since their arrival in 2021.

Plans for a new stadium with 65,000 seats in the neighboring Leazes park were expected to be announced earlier this year but have been delayed.

It is now clear that these plans are postponed until the club stabilizes the situation in other areas, as Daily Mail reports a shift in priorities in three key areas: appointing a new executive director, a new sporting director, and creating a new training center.

The fight against unauthorized ticket resale and the problems with stadium expansion illustrate the challenges the club faces in light of new economic realities and management changes. Addressing these challenges requires a careful approach to maintain the club's image and stability in the eyes of fans and partners.
