Millions of drivers will receive compensation for auto loans: who is eligible.
Potential compensation for drivers
According to The Sun: More than 30 million drivers may receive compensation for mis-sold auto loans, the head of the financial regulator has reported.
Nikhil Rathi, CEO of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), noted:
“During the period we are considering – from 2007 to around 2020 – there are about 30 million deals… and all of them will be eligible for compensation.”Drivers may still receive compensation for mis-sold auto loans
FCA actions regarding compensation program
“One of the issues we are closely examining is the scope of the program,” Mr. Rathi added.
He informed a group of MPs from the Finance Committee that the FCA is consulting on an industry-wide compensation program, as there is “evidence that there were unfair
relationshipsbetween lenders and their consumers.”
It was also noted that “a large number of consumers did not receive adequate information” about the interest rates on auto loans.
Consultations are expected to begin before the start of October, and Mr. Rathi hopes that
“compensation, where needed, may start being paid out next year.”
The situation with auto loans raises serious concerns among both consumers and regulators. If a compensation program is implemented, it will be an important step in protecting consumer rights and improving trust in financial institutions in Ukraine. Consumers should be prepared for possible changes in lending rules and conditions that may dictate the outcomes of the FCA consultations.
