Ozon sells toy Shahed drones: children in Russia are taught war.
In the Russian online store Ozon they sell copies of toy drones called 'Shahed'. These toys have a children's version as well as an 'adult' model that contains a firecracker and simulates an explosion upon impact. The product description positions it as an ideal gift for little patriots and future conquerors of the sky. The price for the children's model is about 351 rubles, while the 'adult' one costs 480 rubles. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing The Telegraph.
Features of the toys
According to inkorr.com: Promotional videos demonstrate how children launch these 'Shahed' toy drones, after which the 'nose' supposedly explodes. The packaging and promotional materials use symbolism related to the militarization of children in Russia. The sale of such 'explosive toys' has sparked criticism due to the actual use of 'Shaheds' - Iranian drones in the conflict with Ukraine. One of the three product items was removed from the website, however, the children's model remains available for purchase. The manufacturer claims not to specialize in military products and all goods undergo certification checks.
Manufacturing and patriotic propaganda
According to journalists, the production of these toys may be linked to the industrial zone 'Alabuga' in Tatarstan, where, reportedly, combat 'Shaheds' are assembled and underage technical school students are involved in the work. The head of this enterprise has already been sanctioned by the U.S. for the exploitation of minors.
This situation highlights the presence of military-patriotic propaganda in the sale of toy drones in Russia. It is important to pay attention to public response and the manufacturer's position regarding the criticism. Monitoring the impact of such products on children and the overall situation of militarization in society remain relevant topics for discussion.
