Driver's trap: why you shouldn't buy the cheapest cars from Europe.

Ukrainian car enthusiasts risk buying problematic used cars from Europe at low prices. This is reported by 'Hvylya', citing automotive expert Yevhen Yermolov.

The expert explained that many Ukrainians do not understand why identical car models can have different prices. Often, they choose the cheapest options without considering the reasons for such differences. For example, a ten-year-old Volkswagen Passat can cost from 7 to 13 thousand dollars.

The expert shared a story from his experience that illustrates the problems of the European car market. When he first visited a car market in 1997, he saw a row of Opel Vectras that were almost of the same year of manufacture and had almost the same mileage. It turned out that the cars were of German origin and were simply resold in Ukraine. This example clearly shows how the mileage of a car can be tampered with.

Yermolov mentioned that the problem of selling cars with altered mileage still exists. In Europe, there is no system similar to the American Carfax that records the entire history of the vehicle.

The expert urged people to always consider the average mileage of the car. According to Yermolov, if a car is 10 years old, its mileage should be at least 200 thousand kilometers. When buying a car with unusually low mileage, it is necessary to thoroughly investigate the reasons for this.

The expert warns that saving money when buying a car may lead to repair and maintenance costs. He recommends buying cars that were officially imported to Ukraine as new, as they are often in good condition.

According to Yermolov, there are serious risks associated with purchasing cheap cars, as they might require expensive repairs later. It is wise to make a safe choice and trust cars with a good history.
