Pensions in Ukraine have increased to 6410 hryvnias: how much do they receive now.
Increase in the average pension in Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: In the second quarter of 2025, the average pension in Ukraine amounted to 6,410 hryvnias and 20 kopecks, which is 69 hryvnias more than in April. Year-on-year, pensions have increased by 10.2%, which is about 594 hryvnias.
According to the official exchange rate of the NBU, the average pension is approximately 154.95 dollars. However, this is still less than the actual subsistence minimum for disabled citizens, which currently exceeds 7,000 hryvnias. Chair of the parliamentary committee Danilo Hetmantsev noted that this is only 92% of the subsistence minimum.
'The average pension currently equals only about 92% of the actual subsistence minimum for this category, which effectively places most Ukrainian pensioners in the group below the poverty line,' stressed Hetmantsev.
Problems with inflation and expenses
According to experts' estimates, the growth of pensions does not keep pace with inflation, however, a slowdown in inflationary processes has been recorded, which may reduce this gap. Nevertheless, the structure of low-income households' expenses remains problematic due to the high share of food expenses.
Therefore, despite the increase, the average pension in Ukraine is still lower than the subsistence minimum. Statistical data indicate the need for additional measures to ensure a decent standard of living for pensioners in the country.
In the context of rising living costs, pensioners face serious financial difficulties. The state must find effective solutions to improve the welfare of elderly people, in order to protect them from poverty and ensure decent living conditions.
