The pension fund clarified the rules for benefits for single parents of children with disabilities.
According to inkorr.com: The Pension Fund of Ukraine explained the conditions for receiving the care allowance for a child with a disability for single parents. This social benefit is granted regardless of whether the caregiver is employed, studying, or serving in the army.
According to information from the Pension Fund, the allowance can be provided to a single father or mother who is raising a child with a disability up to the age of 18. The main criterion is the direct care of the child, not the formal guardian status.
Legal regulation
The procedure for appointing the allowance is regulated by a document that establishes the rules for providing state social assistance to persons with disabilities from childhood and children with disabilities. According to this procedure, those who are permanently caring for a child with a disability have the right to the allowance, regardless of their social status.
Criteria for determining single parenthood
As explained by the Pension Fund of Ukraine, a single parent is defined as a man who is not married to the mother of the child. At the same time, paternity must be confirmed by official documents or recognized by a court.
These norms are aimed at supporting single parents who independently raise children with special needs and require additional assistance for proper care.
The Pension Fund clarified that the allowance is provided regardless of the employment of the person caring for the child and aims to support parents in raising children with special needs. Assistance can be granted to those who actually provide care for the child, regardless of their social or professional status.
Receiving this allowance will become an important financial support for many single parents who, often facing the challenges of raising children with disabilities, can rely on state support in difficult times. This decision by the Pension Fund emphasizes the importance of social protection and assistance for families that require special attention.
