Paris police evacuated people from the area around the Eiffel Tower after noticing a man climbing the monument.

Law enforcement officers saw an unknown shirtless man climbing the 330-meter tower during the day. It is unclear where he began his ascent, but he was spotted just above the Olympic rings adorning the second part of the monument, right above the first viewing platform.

Police escorted visitors away from the area around the monument around 3:00 PM. Some visitors, who were briefly blocked on the second floor, were allowed to exit approximately 30 minutes later.

It is worth noting that this year the Eiffel Tower was the centerpiece of the opening ceremony, and Celine Dion performed a serenade to the city from one of the viewing platforms.

Recall that today the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games will take place, which is called a true journey through Time. The flag bearers of Ukraine will be silver medalists of the Games Parviz Nasibov and Liudmyla Luzan.

The Summer Olympic Games are being held in the capital of France, Paris, and 16 other cities across the European part of France, as well as in Tahiti - an island that is part of the French overseas country and overseas collectivities of French Polynesia. These Olympic Games will feature the debut of breakdancing as an Olympic sport, and they are expected to be the last Olympic Games held under the presidency of IOC President Thomas Bach.

The 2024 Games are the first to have an equal number of male and female athletes. The Games are expected to cost 8.3 billion euros.

The opening ceremony began at 7:30 PM on July 26, 2024. This was the second instance in history when the opening of the Olympic Games took place outside a stadium (the first being the opening ceremony of the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games).

The parade of nations took place as part of a boat parade along the Seine from the Austerlitz Bridge to the Iena Bridge, and the official protocol took place at the Trocadero plaza on a temporary "mini-stadium". The 6-kilometer (3.7-mile) parade route showcased cultural elements of the ceremony and views of Paris landmarks.

The director of the opening ceremony of the 2024 Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games was director Thomas Jolly.
