Financial Aid for Utility Bills Available to Displaced Ukrainians Through Heating Season.
Caritas Offers Utility Bill Compensation
According to Novyny.live: In March 2026, the charitable foundation 'Caritas Poltava' began registering displaced persons from high-risk areas of Ukraine for financial assistance to cover housing and utility costs. This initiative is part of the 'Multi-Sectoral Assistance to War-Affected People in Ukraine' project, supported by the American people. Funds will be disbursed until the conclusion of the 2025/26 heating season. This support is crucial for many who have lost their livelihoods due to the ongoing conflict.
Assistance is targeted at citizens meeting specific vulnerability criteria, which include:
- disability;
- age 60 or older;
- status as a single parent or guardian;
- pregnancy;
- presence of a severe illness;
- membership in a large family.
This targeted approach aims to aid those most in need of financial support during a challenging socio-economic period.
How to Apply for Monetary Assistance
To register for aid, applicants must prepare several documents. These include: a passport, identification code, a 2026 IDP certificate, an IBAN account number, a certificate for stove heating or utility services, documents confirming the vulnerability criterion, and an income certificate. Submitting these documents will enable applicants to receive financial aid to offset housing and utility costs.
It is important to note that state-provided aid may be extended for six months to vulnerable groups with an income of up to 10.38 thousand UAH per person. Monthly aid will amount to 2 thousand UAH for adults, and 3 thousand UAH for children and persons with disabilities. Additionally, the UNHCR will provide Ukrainians with cash assistance of 3,600 UAH, and UNICEF will provide cash assistance to vulnerable families in the city of Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv region, in March.
Further Details on Aid for the Displaced
This program represents vital support for citizens forced to flee their homes due to hostilities. It is designed to improve their financial stability and ensure basic needs are met amidst the unstable situation in Ukraine. Registration for assistance is now open, and the foundations hope as many eligible people as possible will apply.
This initiative by 'Caritas Poltava' underscores the importance of international support during the war in Ukraine, where many face severe financial hardship. Given the persistent challenges, aid programs at both state and international levels can significantly impact the well-being of vulnerable population groups.
