During general mobilization, a significant question arises for men of conscription age regarding the legality of law enforcement officers checking military registration documents. Due to ignorance of laws and regulations, conflicts may occur between men and those who require such documents to be presented.
Journalists from Channel 24 provided clear explanations of who has the right to check documents for men of conscription age.
Who Has the Right to Check
According to the current legislation of Ukraine, certain categories of public officials have the right to check military IDs and identity documents.
These include representatives of the TCC, National Police, and military patrols. The right to check documents is also granted to representatives of other military formations of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in designated areas, such as border zones or areas of active combat.
What May Be Requested
Conscripts are required to present documents upon the request of authorized persons. Mandatory documents to carry during martial law include:
- military ID for all conscripts, individuals who have completed military service and have been placed in reserve.
- temporary certificate of a conscript for men without a military ID.
- certificate of assignment to the draft board for draftees.
In addition, authorized persons may demand the presentation of such documents as a deferment certificate or a certificate of exemption from military registration issued based on health conditions or other grounds.

It was also reported whether a man waiting for a decision on obtaining a deferment could be mobilized.
