Preparing for an Attack on Iran: US Fighters at Base

An American military base in the Middle East has received additional reinforcement in the form of ten F/A-18 fighters. The relocation of the aircraft is part of the Pentagon’s measures to protect Israel from potential attacks by Iran and its allies. This was reported by the Israeli publication The Times of Israel.

According to an American official, the F/A-18 aircraft and the E-2D Hawkeye reconnaissance aircraft took off from the aircraft carrier in the Gulf of Oman and arrived at an undisclosed base on Monday.

US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin issued an order to increase military presence in the region due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East. Recently, senior Hezbollah commander in Lebanon and the political leader of Hamas in Iran were killed, which was likely the result of strikes carried out by Israel. It is noted that both groups are supported by Iran.

The deployment of American aircraft is expected to be temporary, as an Air Force F-22 fighter squadron is based at the same location from Alaska. About ten F-22 planes are also expected to arrive in the Middle East in the coming days.

The Times of Israel notes that the retention of all aircraft at the base will depend on the further situation in the region over the next few days.

Recall that the US is increasing its military presence in the Middle East to reduce tensions in the region.

"Our overall goal is to lower the temperature in the region, deter and protect against attacks, and avoid conflict in the region," said an American official while participating in the “Face the Nation” program on CBS.
