Ukraine is considering the possibility of raising tariffs on electricity and gas for businesses and the population in accordance with the terms of the new Memorandum with the IMF. According to the new plan, after the end of martial law, the gas and electricity markets are to be liberalized within six months. According to Andriy Zakrevskyi from the Association of Energy and Natural Resources of Ukraine, gas and electricity prices in our country should become close to European levels due to integration into the European energy system. 'If we talk about gas, Naftogaz is currently signing new contracts for gas supply, as we are in the European network,' the employee noted. Regarding the increase in gas and electricity tariffs, experts express the opinion that the concept of 'market price' may not be entirely applicable for Ukraine, and the increase in tariffs is currently a subject of discussion. Under the new plan, gas tariffs will gradually increase to 12 thousand hryvnias, while the population may have a tariff of 8 thousand hryvnias per 1 thousand cubic meters. Electricity tariffs for the population may also increase to 6 hryvnias per kilowatt. The IMF recommends that the population prepare for a gas price of 14-15 thousand hryvnias, but this issue is also a subject of discussion due to the peculiarities of the Ukrainian market. At the same time, the Cabinet of Ministers decided to extend the fixed electricity tariff for the population until 2025.
