Every day at 9 a.m., Ukrainians honor the memory of all those whose lives were taken by the Russo-Ukrainian war. Today, let's remember Yaroslav Antonyak.

On September 12, after a severe injury on the front line and prolonged treatment in the hospital, a state and public figure, volunteer, and serviceman Yaroslav Antonyak passed away.

The death of the serviceman was reported on the page of the organization 'Public Guard,' as well as by numerous friends of the soldier on social media.

'A heavy and irreparable loss! Today, September 12, 2024, after a severe injury on the front line and prolonged treatment, Yaroslav Antonyak passed away into Eternity,' the 'Public Guard' message said.

Masi Nayem also reported the loss.

'Our friend Yaroslav Antonyak passed away tonight. He was shot in the head during combat. Doctors fought for his life, and he was in a coma for a long Time,' he wrote on Facebook.

Yaroslav Antonyak was born on November 29, 1981, in Lviv.

He graduated from the Law Faculty of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University and the Vadym Hetman Kyiv National Economic University (obtained a Master of Law and International Economics degree).

He was the initiator and author of a number of nationalist-patriotic publishing and video projects.

Since the early days of national revival, he was a member of the Plast Ukrainian Youth Association, a participant in the Revolution of Dignity, and a recipient of the 'Revolutionary Guard' award (Maidan Iron Cross).

He worked at the Lviv Regional Customs Office and was a private entrepreneur.

From the beginning of the Russo-Ukrainian war, he was an active volunteer, the founder and activist of the NGO 'Public Guard,' 'Help the Front,' and other civic and volunteer initiatives.

From 2014 to 2019, he was an advisor to the head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he volunteered to join the ranks of the 103rd Territorial Defense Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (lieutenant).

On May 4, 2024, he was severely injured while performing a combat mission to defend the Homeland.

Doctors fought for his life for over four months, but unfortunately, the soldier's injuries proved to be too severe.

The funeral took place on September 14, 2024, at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul, followed by a city-wide farewell ceremony on Rynok Square. Yaroslav Antonyak was buried at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.

'Glavkom' joins the minute of silence. We honor the memory of all Ukrainians who perished in the struggle for the Motherland. We remember those who died at the hands of Russian occupiers, light candles of remembrance, and bow our heads in sorrow during the nationwide minute of silence, paying tribute to the bright memory of Ukrainian citizens who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the state: all soldiers, civilians, and children who perished in the fight against Russian occupiers and as a result of the enemy's attack on Ukrainian cities and villages.
