Moldova is terminating the agreement with Russia on cultural centers
Moldova has decided to terminate the agreement made with Russia in 1998 regarding the establishment and operation of cultural centers. One of these centers is the Russian Cultural Center located in Chisinau, known as
Russian House, which is now also under threat of closure. The Ministry of Culture of Moldova believes that the agreement could be used by Russia to spread disinformation, which is why they initiated its termination.
It is very important that Moldova does not even have its own cultural center in Russia, which violates the balance in cooperation between the countries. The status of the agreement will now be decided at a parliamentary meeting. This decision received support from the parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and European Integration. It was also noted that Russian drones that crashed in southern Moldova were one of the reasons for the termination of the agreement.
