Legendary Australian Tennis Player Passes Away.


Australian tennis player Fred Stoll has passed away at the age of 87, who was considered one of the best players in the world. This was reported by the Professional Tennis Association website.
“With the death of Fred Stoll, the tennis world has lost one of its best players, a vibrant personality,” the ATP website states.
Fred Stoll was a winner of the French Open and US Open in singles, as well as winning 17 titles in doubles and mixed doubles.
He also won the Davis Cup three times while competing for the Australian team.
In 1985, Fred Stoll was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, and three years later into the Sports Hall of Fame in Australia. A monument to the legendary tennis player was also erected in Melbourne in 1997.
After his career ended, Fred Stoll worked in television and received the Order of Australia in 2005.
Fred Stoll is survived by his wife Pat and son Sendon, who also became a tennis player and won the US Open plus 21 ATP tournament titles in doubles. He also has two daughters, Monique and Nadine.
Also reported was the death of former football player Sergey Zhuravlyov, who played for the team “Dynamo.” He was recognized as one of the most talented defenders of his generation and won the European Championship with the youth national team.
After his football career, Sergey Zhuravlyov became a coach at the youth sports school of “Dynamo.” Many of his pupils became well-known players and are performing in Ukrainian and foreign clubs.
“We express our deepest condolences to Sergey Zhuravlyov’s family. His memory will forever remain with us,” said the president of “Dynamo” Kyiv, Igor Surkis.
Also, during the war with the Russian occupiers, volleyball player Andriy Romanov from Kropyvnytskyi was killed. He initially helped volunteers and later joined the Defense Forces and worked as a combat medic.
Andriy is survived by his wife and young son.
