Military Beating in Smila: Law Enforcement Detained Suspect (video).
Police have detained a suspect in the beating of a soldier in Smila. Criminal proceedings have been initiated against him on four counts. This was reported by the National Police of Ukraine.
According to the police, the 28-year-old man was hiding from law enforcement in one of the hotels in the Cherkasy region, where he was detained. The court will soon choose a preventive measure for him.
«In addition, searches were conducted at the suspect's place of residence, during which, preliminarily, drugs and weapons were seized. Based on the results of investigative actions, additional entries were made to the EDR under the fact of illegal possession of weapons and drugs (under Part 1 of Article 263 and Part 1 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)», the National Police reported.
Also, based on the fact of the veteran's beating in Smila in the Cherkasy region, the police are investigating criminal cases, for which the suspect has been procedural notified. The man could face up to 12 years in prison.
Recall that in Smila, Cherkasy region, on September 3, a conflict occurred between a soldier and a suspect in a number of criminal cases who has a sentence. The demobilized defender told on his social media pages about a car accident that his parents got into due to the fault of a local criminal authority. After that, the gangster beat the soldier and forced him to publicly admit guilt and apologize. The incident caused significant public outcry and attracted the attention of activists.
Subsequently, the incident was responded to by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police of Ukraine.
