Widespread Train Delays in Ukraine Prompt Ukrzaliznytsia to Launch New Services.
Current Train Situation in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: Due to damaged railway infrastructure and passenger evacuations, several trains across Ukraine are running behind schedule. Significant delays are particularly affecting the Odesa–Dnipro and Odesa–Kharkiv routes. Train No. 53/54 from Odesa to Dnipro is running 3 hours and 50 minutes late, while service No. 7/8 from Odesa to Kharkiv is delayed by 3 hours.
New Routes and Service Improvements
In response to these disruptions, Ukrzaliznytsia has scheduled new routes to improve connectivity. Starting June 28, a new Intercity train, No. 753/754, will operate between Dnipro and Odesa. Additionally, train No. 765/766 from Kyiv to Odesa is set to launch on June 27. Service No. 763/764 on the same route will increase its frequency to six trips, aiming to ease passenger transport during this challenging period.
It is worth noting that the first runs of new children's carriages began in late April, offering a more convenient option for traveling families. Despite infrastructure damage and ongoing challenges, Ukrzaliznytsia continues working to enhance passenger services.
The current wave of train delays highlights serious issues in Ukraine's transport network caused by external factors. By introducing new services and expanding train availability—especially for families with children—the railway operator hopes to significantly ease travel for passengers during this difficult time. Ukrzaliznytsia remains committed to finding ways to improve service, a crucial step in maintaining public mobility.
