Russia Has No Plans to End War Through Negotiations, Despite U.S. Efforts, Says Political Analyst.
Prospects for U.S.-Russia Talks
According to UATV: Political analyst Oleksiy Polegkiy has stated that Russia does not intend to conclude the war through diplomatic talks, even as the United States pushes to engage Moscow in dialogue. He noted that while discussions are ongoing, Russia does not view them as a pathway to ending the conflict.
The first round of talks between Ukrainian and U.S. delegations concluded on March 21 in Miami. Polegkiy believes these efforts are merely an attempt to keep the negotiation channel with Russia open.
“This is just an attempt to maintain the negotiation track with Russia,” he emphasized during a broadcast on the FREEДОМ channel on March 22.The analyst expressed skepticism about the ability of U.S. representative Witkoff to change the situation:
“I have serious doubts that Witkoff can somehow turn the tide”.
The Difficulty of Diplomatic Efforts
Furthermore, Polegkiy noted that hoping for a breakthrough in negotiations is unfounded: “But to hope for some breakthrough in the talks, I think there is absolutely no reason for it yet.” Thus, despite the active negotiation process, Russia’s position remains unchanged, raising concerns about the future course of events.
This situation highlights the complexity of diplomatic efforts to resolve a conflict that has been ongoing for several years. The lack of progress in talks may indicate that Russia is not ready for compromises, complicating the search for a peaceful solution. Meanwhile, the active engagement of the U.S. and Ukraine in the diplomatic process may be an attempt to maintain international support and pressure Moscow, but the outcomes of these efforts remain uncertain.
