Who Will Fund Poland’s Offer to Upgrade Ukraine’s Aircraft?.
Poland Offers to Help Modernize Ukraine’s Fighter Jets
According to Espreso.tv: Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz has stated that Poland is ready to assist Ukraine in upgrading its aircraft. However, he made it clear that the costs for this modernization must be covered either by Ukraine itself or by its allies.
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasized that Poland is open to discussing the possibility of upgrades if Ukraine considers them necessary. He also stressed the importance of maintaining a principle of reciprocity in the process. The minister noted that
“there are certainly many more positive developments now than just a few days ago,”pointing to improving cooperation between the two countries.
At the same time, Ukraine has expressed reservations about the technical condition of Poland’s MiG aircraft.
Deepening Military Ties Between Poland and Ukraine
This announcement highlights the continued military partnership between Poland and Ukraine, a relationship that has grown increasingly significant amid ongoing regional security threats. While both sides show willingness to collaborate—potentially bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities—the issues of funding and aircraft maintenance still require further discussion and agreement. This development could mark an important step in allied support for Ukraine.
