Ukrainian Government Undergoes Major Reshuffle

According to Espreso.tv: On July 13, 2023, a significant cabinet shake-up took place in Ukraine. The decision to appoint Serhiy Koretskyi as the country's new prime minister had reportedly been 95% finalized in advance, but it received its official green light during a meeting with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at 1:00 PM that same day. During the discussion, Zelenskyy thanked Koretskyi for his strong leadership of several key state-owned enterprises.

At the same time, Yuliya Svyrydenko is stepping down from her role as prime minister to take up the position of Ukraine's ambassador to the United States. In the interim, First Deputy Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal will serve as acting head of government. The formal appointment of the new prime minister and the approval of the full cabinet will be conducted through two separate parliamentary votes.

The decision on Koretskyi's candidacy is '95%' already made.

Strategic Moves by the Government

This reshuffle, particularly the appointment of a new prime minister, signals the government's intent to adapt to the evolving challenges facing the nation. Given his prior experience running state companies, Koretskyi's selection appears aimed at boosting efficiency and stability during a period of economic and political strain. Meanwhile, Svyrydenko's transition to ambassador underscores the critical role of U.S.-Ukraine relations amid ongoing external threats.
