Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Urges Partners: Air Defense Systems Needed Now to Shield Civilians.
An Urgent Appeal for International Support
According to UATV: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has called on global allies to step up assistance in countering Russian aggression, stressing that protecting civilian lives must be the top priority. In his statement, he highlighted that the Kremlin continues to strike non-military targets across Ukraine, demonstrating a blatant disregard for peace and the safety of the Ukrainian people. This plea comes as Russia’s aerial assaults show no signs of abating, putting millions of ordinary citizens at risk.
'The Kremlin believes it can bomb residential neighborhoods, kill Ukrainians, and still be seen as a party genuinely interested in peace.' - Andrii Sybiha
He went on to assert that 'each new strike proves the opposite.' The foreign minister emphasized that Ukraine urgently requires the means to intercept Russian missiles, destroy bombers dropping munitions, and defend its population. 'Ukraine needs the tools to intercept Russian rockets, eliminate aircraft carrying out bombing runs, and safeguard its people,' he stated.
Civilian Safety and the Need for Stronger International Backing
Additionally, Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, has also urged partner nations to ramp up deliveries of air defense equipment, calling it absolutely vital for ensuring public safety. With threats from the Kremlin growing ever more severe, sustained international support is becoming increasingly critical to overcoming aggression and shielding civilians across Ukraine.
The statements from Ukrainian officials underscore the dire situation the country faces amid active hostilities and constant dangers to non-combatants. Bolstered international backing—particularly in defense capabilities—could prove decisive in Ukraine’s ability to resist aggression and secure the well-being of its citizens. It is essential that the global community heeds the calls from Ukraine’s leaders and provides support during this difficult period.
