Poland will change the rules of entry and exit for Ukrainians: what to prepare for.
The Polish government has adopted a draft law on joining the Entry/Exit System (EES), developed by the Ministry of Interior and Administration. This law is aimed at harmonizing Polish legislation with the European Union norms regarding the crossing of external borders of the Schengen Area by third-country nationals.
According to inPoland, the EES, which applies to all third-country nationals who have the right to short-term stay (up to 90 days within a 180-day period), aims to enhance the security of EU citizens and optimize the border control process. This system will apply to all foreigners outside the EU, regardless of whether they cross the border under a visa regime or use a visa-free regime for short-term trips.
The innovation foresees the creation of a unified database on the entry and exit of third-country nationals, including information on possible entry refusals. This system will automatically calculate the allowed period of stay for foreigners in the Schengen Area, which will significantly simplify the compliance control of stay rules.
One of the changes for travelers will be the absence of traditional border stamps when crossing the border. Access to the EES data will be granted to key state institutions and authorized persons, such as the police, prosecutor's office, voivodes, border service, the head of the department for foreigners, the police, and the National Tax Administration. This will ensure a comprehensive approach to managing migration processes and enhance the effectiveness of compliance control for foreigners.
Interestingly, this system will operate in all EU countries, and its launch is expected on November 10th this year.
