There were lists for the physical elimination of certain deputies, I heard such data. Future generations would not have forgiven us if we had not done it. I think it flies here forever over the Town Hall of the City Council
Salyak recalled.
The mayor of Lviv added that Salyak adhered to this tradition until his last day and raised the Ukrainian flag annually.
We remember! Bright Memory
Sadovy added.
Before the declaration of Ukraine's independence, on April 3, 1990, deputies of the first democratic convocation in Lviv decided to raise the blue-yellow flag over the Town Hall. The honorable right fell to three deputies: Yevhen Shmorgun, Stefaniya Shabatura, and Zinoviy Salyak.
I always remember April 3, 1990, how we raised the flag. I looked down, the Rynok Square was filled with people, and people were shouting 'Glory to Ukraine!'. When we came down, people were crying
Salyak recalled.
