Andriy Ivanovych Sadovyi - Mayor of Lviv since April 25, 2006. Founder of the civic initiative 'Samopomich', member of the 'Samopomich' party, co-founder of the TV channel 'Lux'.
Place of Birth. Education. Born in Lviv. In 1995 he graduated from Lviv Polytechnic (Electronics Engineer). In 1997 he also earned a degree in Economics from the same university. In 1999 he graduated from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of Ukraine (Master in Public Administration). He speaks English, Ukrainian, Russian, and Polish.
Career. From 1987 to 1989, he served in the Soviet Army. He began working in 1989 as a Radio-Electronics Engineer at PAO Lvivprylad. From 1992 to 1995, he was the deputy director of the Lviv department of the Youth Social Adaptation Fund under the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine. From 1997 to 2005, he headed the Council of PAO Yugzahidelektromerezhtroitelstvo. From 2002 to 2005, he was the chairman of the board of LLC Teleradiokompania Lux. In January 2006, he launched a new television project - the news channel '24'.
Political Activity. From 1998 to 2002, he was a member of the Lviv City Council and chairman of the Economic Policy Committee. Since March 26, 2006, he has been the Mayor of Lviv. He was a long-time member of the 'Our Ukraine' party but was excluded from the Political Council of the 'Our Ukraine' party at Sadovyi's request on June 27, 2009. In 2010, he was re-elected as Mayor of Lviv (running for the Republican Christian Party). In December 2012, he founded the political party 'Samopomich' and became its chairman. In the early parliamentary elections on October 26, 2014, the 'Samopomich' party managed to enter the Verkhovna Rada for the first time. In the local elections in the fall of 2015, Sadovyi was re-elected as Mayor of Lviv. In the early parliamentary elections of 2019, he headed the list of the 'Samopomich' party. However, the 'Samopomich' party failed to overcome the parliamentary 5% threshold. On October 19, 2019, Oksana Syroid was elected chairperson of the 'Samopomich' party. In the local elections in the fall of 2020, Sadovyi was re-elected as Mayor of Lviv.
Social Engagement. From 1997 to 2001, he was the chairman of the board of the Public Organization 'Development Fund of Lviv Region'. From 2000 to 2002, he was the chairman of the supervisory board of the cultural fund named after Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky. In 2002-2003, he was the founder and director of the Public Organization 'Institute for City Development'. Since 2003, he has been the deputy chairman of the board of the 'Bridges to the East' Institute (Poland). Since 2005, he has been the head of the public organization 'Samopomich' in Lviv.
Family. Wife - Kateryna Kot-Sadova, art scientist. She has five sons (Ivan-Pavlo, Tadey-Luka, Mykhailo, Iosyp, Antoniy). Kateryna Kot-Sadova owns 76.7% of the shares of the television channel '24'.
