According to inkorr.com: Today, it became known about a heavy loss – Oleksandr Savov, a marine soldier who was captured by the Russians and returned home only eight months ago, has passed away.

Life and captivity

Oleksandr Savov served in the 36th brigade of the marine corps and spent over three years in captivity. He was one of those heroes who defended Ukraine at the 'Azovstal' plant.

After a long wait, in March of this year, Oleksandr returned home during a prisoner exchange, and his daughter Anastasia welcomed him at the airport with a flag, joyfully celebrating this event.

After his return, Oleksandr Savov faced serious health issues, such as tuberculosis, skin diseases, and leg lymphostasis. He spoke about the unbearable conditions in captivity, which resembled a real hell.

Dignity of Ukrainian soldiers

Captivity can kill, even after liberation

Yuliya Pavlyuk, a coordinator for working with prisoners of war, expressed concern about the condition of Ukrainian fighters who have endured captivity. Medical staff continue to assist former prisoners who require long-term rehabilitation.

This tragic event again reminds us of the difficulties faced by Ukrainian defenders returning from captivity after military conflicts.

The loss of Oleksandr Savov emphasizes the importance of attention to the mental and physical health of former prisoners of war. In Ukraine, the issues of rehabilitation and adaptation of fighters are becoming increasingly relevant, as the war brings not only visible but also invisible wounds that require time to heal.
