Salary Comparison: How Much They Pay for Seasonal Jobs in Ukraine and Poland.
The Ukrainian seasonal labor market has undergone changes due to mobilization and emigration, leading to a labor shortage, especially in agriculture and construction. This has caused wages in these sectors to rise, according to OLX data.
In June 2024, wages in Ukraine's agricultural sector increased by 46.15% to 19,000 hryvnias per month without accommodation and up to 27,500 hryvnias with accommodation. In the construction sector, the increase was even more significant - 54.4%, up to 27,028 hryvnias without accommodation and up to 30,000 hryvnias with accommodation.
Among the popular categories of seasonal work in Ukraine with accommodation are construction/cladding work, manufacturing/skilled labor, agriculture and forestry/agrobusiness, and hotel-restaurant business/tourism. Without accommodation - construction/cladding work, manufacturing/skilled labor, hotel-restaurant business/tourism, agriculture and forestry/agrobusiness.
However, Ukrainian wages lag behind Polish wages. In Poland, the median wage in the agricultural sector is 52,250 hryvnias, and in construction - 62,000 hryvnias. The minimum wage in Poland is also higher.
This leads to the outflow of Ukrainians to work abroad. According to Eurostat, about 4.2 million Ukrainians work in EU countries.
Maria Abdullina, head of the "OLX Jobs" direction, noted that "the outflow of labor has reduced the number of available workers in Ukraine, leading to an increase in wages to attract personnel."
