Coimbra Mayor Ana Abrunhosa reported severe issues in Coimbra and surrounding towns, stating that

"Coimbra and the surrounding municipalities are facing very serious problems due to the flooding, with some of them now isolated."

Authorities carried out a precautionary evacuation for approximately 3,000 people. The situation in the region remains highly volatile, as emphasized by Mayor Abrunhosa, who added,

"the situation is extremely unstable."
