US Embassy Statement
The US Embassy in Ukraine condemned the missile attack by Russia on Kyiv on the night of August 28. Diplomats called for an immediate halt to strikes on civilian objects, describing them as unacceptable, reported FREEДОМ.
The institution also expressed condolences to the families of the victims that night.
“Strikes on civilian objects are unacceptable and must be immediately stopped. As for this war, President Trump has made it clear: the killings must stop, and both sides must make efforts to reach a negotiated solution,” the embassy’s statement said.
Details of the Attack
It is known that on the night of August 28 to 29, Russian troops again attacked Kyiv, using missiles and drones. The air raid alert lasted for over 11 hours, with approximately 100 objects coming under fire. Serious destruction was recorded in 20 locations in seven districts of the city, including in the Darnytskyi district, where a five-story building's entrance collapsed due to the attack.
This attack is yet another evidence of the escalation of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Attacks on civilian objects raise concerns within the international community, which calls for reconciliation and a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The duration of the air raid alert and the scale of the attack underscore the seriousness of the situation in the region.
