New Combat Bonuses for Ukrainian Troops: Up to $1,100 Per Day for Assault Operations Starting in June.
Ukraine Launches a Revised Military Incentive Payment System
According to Novyny.live: Starting in June 2023, Ukraine has introduced a revamped system of incentive payments for its military personnel, offering financial rewards tied directly to combat performance. Spearheaded by Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, this reform aims to boost financial support for soldiers and encourage mission success under challenging conditions.
In July, all Ukrainian Armed Forces members will continue to receive a minimum monthly salary of 30,000 hryvnias. Additionally, troops serving in rear areas are now eligible for an extra monthly stipend of 10,000 hryvnias. A key feature of the new framework is the payment for assault operations:
- 20,000 hryvnias per day for regaining control of positions;
- 40,000 hryvnias per day for successful assault missions.
The system also includes bonuses for command roles and special assignments. For instance, soldiers managing command posts can earn up to 50,000 hryvnias monthly, while those handling other combat tasks may receive up to 30,000 hryvnias. Total extra payments per individual are capped at 460,000 hryvnias per month, ensuring substantial financial backing.
Furthermore, the new policy provides rewards for combat achievements:
- 100,000 hryvnias for each enemy combatant captured;
- 15,000 hryvnias for each confirmed enemy kill, verified through video evidence.
These measures are designed not only to improve soldiers' financial well-being but also to strengthen their drive to complete combat missions effectively.
The introduction of this incentive payment system reflects the state's commitment to ensuring dignified conditions for its troops and supporting them during the nation's extremely difficult circumstances.
Boosting Military Morale
This reform is part of broader efforts by Ukrainian authorities to enhance service conditions amid the ongoing conflict. By linking financial rewards to battlefield outcomes, the system aims to sustain troop morale and provide economic stability during wartime. The infusion of bonus funds for combat achievements could significantly improve task efficiency and overall army readiness.
