According to The Sun: Michael Carrick, the former Middlesbrough coach, has found a new job after being sacked by the club. He could become the successor of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United if the management decides to dismiss the coach due to a poor start to the season.

Following his dismissal, the 44-year-old specialist took on the role of UEFA technical observer during the Champions League match between Barcelona and PSG.

The game ended with PSG winning 1-0 thanks to Goncalo Ramos’ goal in the 90th minute. Carrick analyzed the actions of the teams, noting that one of the reasons for success was how they utilized space behind high defensive lines.

“A simple passing combination using mannequins to practice timing runs and executing offside is one way to prepare for such a game plan,” Carrick said.

“Players need to understand when to run – the 'triggers' – and where to direct the passes. And for the player making the pass, it shouldn't go directly 'to' the player, but 'forward', into the open space.

Other candidates mentioned to replace Ruben Amorim include Oliver Glasner, Andoni Iraola, and Fabian Hursteller. Also on the list is Sir Gareth Southgate, the former England manager, who has expressed doubts about being successful in this position due to concerns that he wouldn’t be given enough time to achieve results.

This weekend, Manchester United will face their new opponent Sunderland at Old Trafford. Currently, the club sits 14th in the table, and there is increasing pressure on Amorim.

The situation at Manchester United remains tense. The failed results on the pitch not only impact Ruben Amorim's future but also the team's prospects, which aims for high positions in the table. Football fans are eager to see how events unfold, as the next matches could be crucial for the coach and the club as a whole.
