The fire at the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery (NPP) in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation was only extinguished today, August 26. Six days ago, the facility was attacked by Ukrainian drones, reports FREEДОМ.
According to FREEДOM: After the drone attack, six tanks were destroyed here, and another two were damaged. This is confirmed by Maxar satellite images.
The fire at the facility, which was one of the largest fuel suppliers in southern Russia, was only extinguished this morning - more than 400 firefighters and 150 units of equipment were needed for this.
Authorities long concealed the scale of the disaster. Water supply was shut off in the neighboring city of Krasny Sulin, where 35 thousand people live, to extinguish the fire.
Over the past week, the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery has become the site of a fierce fire after the attack by Ukrainian drones, which has led to serious material damage and posed a threat to residents of nearby settlements. The accident involved a large mobilization of firefighters and equipment, as well as the shutdown of water supply for thousands of residents of the neighboring city.Read also
