According to the press service of the Pension Fund of Ukraine (PFU), in 2025, Ukrainian citizens will be provided with several options for submitting an application for the accrual of unpaid pensions in case of a pensioner's death. The funds must be paid to family members who lived with him.

According to the PFU, in case of death, relatives have the right to receive the unpaid pension. To do this, they need to submit an application and the necessary documents within six months from the date of the pensioner's death.

Rules for returning unpaid pensions

The PFU emphasizes that in case of a pensioner's death, family members who lived with him have the right to receive payments. This residency can be documented with a certificate of family composition.

Moreover, the right to receive payments is also granted to dependents of the deceased pensioner. Heirs can also count on the pension payment as it is part of the inheritance.

How to apply for the payment

Citizens who find themselves in such a situation can submit an application for the unpaid pension of a deceased pensioner in various ways, including through any service center of the PFU or using the e-services portal. To receive the funds, relatives need to provide a package of documents, including the death certificate, a copy of the applicant's passport, documents proving family relations, and others.

It should be noted that the application for the payment of the unpaid pension must be submitted within six months from the date of the pensioner's death.

'The day of applying for the payment of the unpaid pension is considered the day the Fund's authority accepts the application with all necessary documents. If the application is submitted through the web portal - the date of registration of the application with scanned copies of the documents', the PFU adds.

Moreover, according to the latest news, the state guarantees some categories of citizens bonuses and compensations to pensions. Additionally, a certain group of citizens will receive a one-time assistance of 1,000 UAH from the Pension Fund in honor of Independence Day.

By using the services of the Pension Fund, relatives of deceased pensioners have the opportunity to receive unpaid pensions. To do this, it is necessary to timely submit the appropriate application and documents within six months from the date of the pensioner's death.
