Details of the Reconstruction
The plans, presented back in July, involve demolishing the current South Stand and building a new stand with 7,000 seats.
Furthermore, Bournemouth plans to fill the stadium's corners and extend the North and East stands by adding another 4,340 seats.
A new fan zone will also be created in the southwest corner of the stadium.
The club hopes to start work this season. According to the BBC, work could begin from January to March 2026, if all goes according to plan.
Bournemouth is currently working with the local council during the planning and consultation stages.
Once planning permission is obtained, the first step will be to install a new fence and gates, a new ticket office, and a “minimal expansion” of the West Stand.

Plans for the Future
According to BBC reports, the work is expected to be completed by March 2026, with the start of construction of the new South Stand and filling of the four corners scheduled for August 2026.
The extension of the North and East stands is planned for the summer of 2027. The club hopes to have the reconstruction fully completed before the start of the 2027-28 season.
Bournemouth has not yet obtained planning permission, but advisor Rich Garrett, responsible for leisure and commercial operations, stated:
“The Council recognizes how important AFC Bournemouth is for Bournemouth, Christchurch, and Poole. With their continued successes on the pitch and support from our local communities. We have positive relationships with the football club and are pleased with their recent successes on the field. We look forward to working with them on their investment plans for this area and improving the experiences of visitors to the Vitality stadium, in line with proper planning and democratic processes.”
The planned reconstruction of the Vitality stadium is an ambitious project aimed not only at increasing capacity but also at improving the overall experiences for fans. This is an important step for the club, as the increased number of visitors may enhance financial opportunities and popularity of the club among the local community. However, monitoring the permitting process and the actual start of work remain key points for the further development of the project.
